Description

These little Chick-a-Dees are sure to delight little nature explorers and mathematicians alike. Chicks can be used for pretend play, hide ‘n seek bird watching, color recognition, and more. Each birdie comes with a coordinating colored nest filled with 5 eggs to protect and count.

Use this set as a conversation starter for Spring Time themes – birds – where they live, what they eat, why they build nests, how eggs hatch, how they are cared for….

It comes with a scoop so it can be used as a transferring activity to build fine motor skills. Scoop up the eggs, count them, gently return them to their nest. There are so many different ways to play – let your little one’s imagination take flight with this adorable bird play set.

Each Chick-a-Dee Play Set comes in a convenient little drawstring pouch making it easy to bring to restaurants, the doctor’s office, or Grandma’s house…and making it the perfect gift or Easter Basket find.

Each bowl measures approximately 2.5” in diameter.
Each egg is a little under 1” long.
Each bird is approximately 6” long and about 4” high.

Each wooden piece has been hand painted with a nontoxic, water based wash. They have been lightly sealed with a combination of organic beeswax and jojoba oil to keep the colors vibrant and the pieces durable.

Each birdie is hand crafted using recycled felt and coordinating100% cotton fabric WHICH MAY NOT BE EXACTLY THE SAME PRINT AS SHOWN, but will be a nice coordinate. They have been stuffed for stability. *Can be hand washed and set out to dry.

*Due to the size of the eggs, this set is not recommended for children who still put things in their mouths as they pose a choking hazard. As with ALL toys, children should ALWAYS be supervised while at play.

* All of my creations were made with your little one in mind. Each piece was designed to nurture child development through open-ended play. These pieces can be used to broaden your little one’s understanding and knowledge of our world and were created as early educational toys. I am inspired by the teachings of Montessori; the natural beauty of Waldorf; and incorporate a myriad of other learning-through-play philosophies when I design. It makes me smile to see my made-with-love pieces being toted for use as preschool toys and in natural play settings. Thank you for helping me support little minds, bodies, and imaginations through engaging, hands-on play and discovery.

Founder and principle designer, Jessica Perkins, has been creating for as long as she can remember, originally helping her mama with her handmade toy store over 20 years ago. With the birth of her children, and all the new little people in her life, Jessica found herself searching for toys that met her educational and design standards.

Inspired by these little explorers, and her understanding of Montessori and Waldorf methodologies, Jessica Perkins began making all of her creations with the belief that children make sense of their world through sensing their world. After years of making, creating, and gifting her creations to friends and family, Jessica decided to start selling her goodies. Since the launch of Mama May i in 2009, Jessica’s passion for artistic expression through toys has blossomed into a business supported by mama’s and papa’s all over the world.

With this learning through play philosophy in mind, Mama May i encourages kids, both big and small, to dive in, make a splash, a scribble, or an inquisitive fiddle on the memories we share together.
