Description

Let this little fleet* inspire your little one’s imagination to set sail and wander freely among the high seas and low tides of rain-fallen puddles and hose water streams. Perfectly pieced for friendly competition, these little sailing teams will delight onlookers and sail sponsors alike. Collect the whole flotilla and choose a favorite color to cheer to the finish line. Each colored vessel comes with two matching people to lead the way to victory. Hoist the sail, load the cabin, and set off on a nautical adventure. Enjoy creating stories and triumphs with your little captain – whatever floats your little one’s fancy.

Each boat measures approximately 6.5” long and 3.5” wide. The sail measures approximately 9” tall, but comes disassembled as not to get damaged in shipment. My little captain enjoy fitting the pieces together and putting the little people in their cabin – a great aid in building fine motor skills.

Each boat comes water-ready; coated in an eco-friendly beeswax (though this may need to be reapplied after several sailings). Each little person is painted with eco-friendly, water-based, soy paint and coated with the same waxy finish as a “life preserver”. The sail is made from felt and thread and has to be put together before setting off into the sunset; or sunrise; or puddle jump.

*This listing is for 1 (one) Rainbow Raft – please note the color in the “Message to Seller” box: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple. Each boat is a made-to-order item. Due to the curing time, kindly allow 7-10 business days for this little vessel to be sent off to your home.

*Note: Color May Vary from Batch To Batch Depending on the Water Color Wash and How the Wood Accepts the Color. Thank you! *

All of my creations were made with your little one in mind. Each piece was designed to nurture child development through open-ended play. These pieces can be used to broaden your little one’s understanding and knowledge of our world and were created as early educational toys. I am inspired by the teachings of Montessori; the natural beauty of Waldorf; and incorporate a myriad of other learning-through-play philosophies when I design. It makes me smile to see my made-with-love pieces being toted for use as preschool toys and in natural play settings. Thank you for helping me support little minds, bodies, and imaginations through engaging, hands-on play and discovery.

Founder and principle designer, Jessica Perkins, has been creating for as long as she can remember, originally helping her mama with her handmade toy store over 20 years ago. With the birth of her children, and all the new little people in her life, Jessica found herself searching for toys that met her educational and design standards.

Inspired by these little explorers, and her understanding of Montessori and Waldorf methodologies, Jessica Perkins began making all of her creations with the belief that children make sense of their world through sensing their world. After years of making, creating, and gifting her creations to friends and family, Jessica decided to start selling her goodies. Since the launch of Mama May i in 2009, Jessica’s passion for artistic expression through toys has blossomed into a business supported by mama’s and papa’s all over the world.

With this learning through play philosophy in mind, Mama May i encourages kids, both big and small, to dive in, make a splash, a scribble, or an inquisitive fiddle on the memories we share together.
