Rainbow Ribbon Lovey – A Montessori and Waldorf Inspired Baby Color and Texture Sensory Learning Toy

This is a larger version of the Rainbow Love-y. A sweet modern addition to the blankie collection, the Rainbow Love-y is sure to lure your little one to explore while awake or cuddle her to sleep. Six modern fabrics have been arranged in a simple rainbow quilt; beautifully pieced together to encourage decadent discovery and colorful conversation. Textural treasure can be found at the end of the rainbow in various ribbon types, in coordinating colors. The ribbons have been placed on two sides of this lovey for surface sensing. In the middle, amongst the sea of color, there is a Sensory Strip – the perfect addition for lingering fingers to frolic their way to textural play. Six different colors placed slightly off center provides the perfect collection of texture for little one’s to grip, rub, fiddle, and discover. One side has a shop tag, where you can add a link, making it easy for little hands to grab and hold, and a cinch for Mamas and Papas to connect to a seat or stroller. We have ours attached to our infant car seat where it doubles as a lap blanket. One side is left completely ribbon free so it can be snuggled without distraction – as my own little one likes to have something tucked softly under her chin when she drifts to dreamland. This sweet little lovey is backed with white minky adding an elegant softness that won’t go untouched.

The Rainbow Love-y rectangle measures approximately 16.5” x 17.5″, not including ribbons. I keep it connected to our infant car seat where it serves double duty. While my little bean is awake, it’s a great play to learn toy – while she is sleeping, it is the perfect size to tuck around her newborn body while she rides.

All of my creations were made with your little one in mind. Each piece was designed to nurture child development through open-ended play. These pieces can be used to broaden your little one’s understanding and knowledge of our world and were created as early educational toys. I am inspired by the teachings of Montessori; the natural beauty of Waldorf; and incorporate a myriad of other learning-through-play philosophies when I design. It makes me smile to see my made-with-love pieces being toted for use as preschool toys and in natural play settings.
